Turn the advent calendar in to a premath discovery play! Set out 25 loose parts, and the insert that corresponds to the advent calendar date. Explain to your learner how many days are left until Christmas (in our house, how many "sleeps") then let them do the math by placing a loose part on the insert for every day left until Christmas! We will start 12/01, and every day we will have more loose parts left over, and less loose parts on the board.

This is an excellent way to discover and learn about time, days, math and counting.
